It's a GREAT Day
in the Ozarks!

Greater Springfield, Missouri Area

Yes, it IS a great day in the Ozarks!  Hi, I'm Karen M Wilson with Murney Associates, Realtors - I look forward to assisting you in navigating through the exciting process of buying and selling real estate in Springfield, Missouri and the surrounding areas. But first ... if you are looking for the foreclosure information proceed directly to the bottom of the page and you can begin your FREE search immediately!

Shopping for a new address is exciting! Standing at the edge of leaving a home filled with memories and feeling the anticipation of moving toward the creation of your new future is both life-transforming and stressful. And it doesn’t matter if you’re moving into your first home, your dream home or simply acquiring investment property to start or add to your portfolio, most would agree that searching for and finding their new address is definitely “the fun part” of the process.

But let’s face it, buying and selling real estate is filled with details and a lot of paperwork - and, specifically, the kind of paperwork that almost no one enjoys and many don’t even understand. Fortunately, this is where I come in …

YOUR details are my “fun part” of the process! Yep, it’s true – there’s nothing I like better than opening the door to explore with you what could potentially be your next home or investment property; it’s my dream job! But it’s the details, which are unique to working with you, of getting you through the closing process that becomes the challenge I love so much about this business.

And, hopefully, knowing this will put your mind at ease enough that we can both have fun AND get you from the finding/selling part to the moving in/moving out part with a minimum amount of stress!

If you aren’t already working with a REALTOR, I look forward to hearing from you soon!

So, What Is So Special About Life in “The Ozarks?”

If you are a native Missourian, you already know, if not, you’re in for a treat! As much as I love the Springfield area, I have not always lived in the Ozarks – but that is why I am uniquely qualified to give you the non-native perspective on Springfield and the surrounding area.

Over the years, I’ve lived in many fine cities across the country; from the cold, frozen tundra of the North (Wisconsin) to the mountains of Colorado (I attended Columbine High School when it opened in 1973) to the thick humidity of the Alabama South and many places in between, both West (Arizona) and East (North Carolina). Springfield is right up there at the top of the list – almost every town within 50miles of this city is enjoying near “boom-town” growth and it’s an exciting time to be living in the Ozarks!

Yes, we are located in Tornado Alley (shhhhhhh ...) and we have severe weather on a regular basis. Generally, these storms are both benign and beautiful - but, sometimes the weather turns destructive, as it does in other locations from time to time. For the most part, we have wonderful, colorful seasons with an extended Spring and Fall."

We enjoy a bit of snow in the winter but rarely have to shovel or live in a slushy mess and while summer can be hot and humid, that too seems to pass rather quickly. Fall can begin here in early September and typically lasts well into November, there’s no need to travel to New England to get our annual “Fall Fix” - the colors here are beautiful!

Spring explodes with budding Bradford Pear, Redbud, Serviceberry and Dogwood trees… and the initial display is followed with tulips, tulip trees (not their official name) and roses, roses everywhere!

All About the Show-Me State and the Springfield Area

We are about 25miles from Branson (an easy and pretty 30min drive), which, by the way, is much more than the Country Music theatres and Factory Outlet shops that made it famous!

You may also be surprised to discover, for instance, that we have 7500 miles of shoreline (along accessible lakes and streams) within a 100 mile radius of the city of Springfield …

... you can hang out at Bass Pro, take a Hot Air Balloon Ride, discover Crystal Cave or Fantastic Caverns or enjoy a Murder-Mystery Dinner at the (haunted) Pythian Castle … all this and more can be found in Springfield, Missouri!

If history is more your cup of tea, we have no shortage of Civil War battlfields and caves to explore. The capital of Missouri is Jefferson City (great architecture there) and Missouri actually got its name from a tribe of Sioux Indians called the Missouris. The name itself means something close to “the land of the large canoes.” In 1806, Lewis and Clark returned from their legendary transcontinental expedition to explore the American West and Missouri, and specifically St. Louis, which soon became known as “The Gateway to the West” (as the St Louis Arch commemorates).  St. Louis is less than a 3hr drive from here!

More local history and tidbits can be found at http://www.ci.springfield.mo.us/community/city_history.html

I am asked quite a bit why Missouri is called the Show-Me state, several stories of its origin can be found at

Are You Waiting For the WHY CHOOSE ME part?

Well, actually, we choose each other. Through our initial communication and first meeting, we will both decide if working together is a good fit - for both of us. Here is a little about who I am and how I work ...

"Earning your business for life" is my personal commitment to providing world-class, referable service to you and your family, friends and coworkers.

Apart from that, and here comes the part where I'm supposed to brag, but just a little ...

I love what I do and I have achieved a certain level of proficiency in the details required to market your current property, help you find your new home (or investment property), negotiate the best deal possible and then execute and oversee the closing process that will result in the all important key-exchange at the end.

I do this according to your best interest and I believe in a negotiation process that, whenever possible, results in all parties being enthusiastic about the coming closing – if everyone is willing to give a little in the process, there IS a deal to be made that comes close to meeting everyone’s needs and that is what I strive to achieve.

Having said all that, I don’t mind saying, I am very grateful for and feel blessed that I have been able to build a busy, multi-million dollar producing business (earning lifetime membership in the Million-Dollar Club) that is high in referrals and repeat business. I feel I am a successful REALTOR, on many levels.

I came to this career with 20+years in the Sales / Business / Marketing / Management fields and a BA in Philosophy (Honor Scholars Program) from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville. I like to think I spent the first part of my life preparing for my dream job in real estate!

I went to college during my midlife-crisis years with the plan of becoming a Physical Therapist. And while I could be working in Physical Therapy, my life took a different turn and I ended up with a really unique college experience, a wonderful mix of science and philosophy, that I wouldn’t trade for anything. So, while I'm still paying off the student loan of a pre-med student, like many people I am not working in the field I took so many exams preparing for!

I am still continuing my education, however. Since I began my real estate career in 2003, I have earned the following designations:

   GRI: Graduate REALTOR Institute
  MRE: Master of Real Estate

ePRO: Internet Proficiency
   SRS: Seller Representative Specialist
 SRES: Seniors Real Estate Specialist
   TRC: Transnational Referral Certificate

I am actively working on the CIPS (Certified International Property Specialist) designation.
Don’t worry if you don’t know what those mean, it simply translates into
“YOUR details are my “fun part” of the process!”

I enjoy learning and “yes” I actually like the paperwork we are required to churn out for every transaction in real estate. Go figure! I am a member of the Greater Springfield Board of Realtors and the State and National Association of Realtors, MAR and NAR, respectively.

I am in progress of joining the Tri-Lakes Board of Realtors
as well so I can assist my clients with property in the more resort part of SW Missouri.  As I continue to grow my business on an International level, I look forward to assisting my clients, both locally and oversees, with their real estate needs abroad. The world is such an exciting place and there is real estate opportunities in every country!

Enough about me - everyone is asking ....
